CMO's Message



Dutch Bay was first brought to my attention back in 2007, when I was scouting for luxury resort and hotel opportunities for Dubai-based Jumeirah Group. Although my team and I realized that the excellent location and natural beauty of the Dutch Bay site would be key to its future success, unfortunately Sri Lanka as a destination was not in a position to capitalize on the opportunity at the time.

However, as I believed in the potential of the DutchBay development, I joined Neil’s efforts to make the Dutch Bay dream come true. Now - two years later – DutchBay is about to come to life. With the coming on board of Hotel Operator Six Senses, this first development under the Swarna Deep banner, has everything going for it. It is my intention to ensure that the resort introduces an innovative, state-of-the-art hotel product to the untouched tropical shores of North-West Sri-Lanka.

Steeped in history as a lagoon in which early traders sought refuge from the ocean, to take in fresh water and an abundance of food for the remainder of their voyage, DutchBay will once more inspire its visitors. The resort will allow its guests to drink in the centuries old mystique of tall ships, tropical locales, and rituals of the Orient.
